What to do in a Tornado Emergency
A Tornado Warning is an alert by the National Weather Service confirming that a tornado has been sighted and notification of location of the tornado.  The Weather Service will announce the approximate time of detection and direction of movement.  Winds will be 75 mph or greater.  A Public Warning will come over the radio, television or by a five minute steady blast of sirens over the Hennepin County Civil Defense Warning System.

1.) If you hear a Tornado Warning, move away from the perimeter of the building and away from exterior glass.  Close doors to these areas if possible.
2.) Go to enclosed areas of the building core: corridors, stairwells, interior rooms.  DO NOT GO TO THE FIRST FLOOR LOBBY OR OUTSIDE.
3.) Position yourself to protect your head as much as possible.
4.) Wait for the Tornado Warning to be lifted.
