Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre and Dance News Release

MANKATO – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Theatre & Dance closes the 2022-2023 Theatre Season with “The Language Archive” in the Andreas Theatre at the Early Center for the Performing Arts.

A professor tries to assemble a recorded archive of languages spoken by native speakers before they become dead languages. While wrapped up in his study of language, his wife leaves him, since he’s forgotten how to properly communicate his love for her. He begins to learn his mistakes while working with a foreign couple who speak a language that can only be properly spoken while in love with each other.

Hans Bloedel, the director of this production and first year MFA directing candidate, explores themes of all different kinds of love throughout this production. Hans is making his directorial debut at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

“The Language Archive” runs April 19-22, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. in the Andreas Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State University, Mankato. Tickets are $10 regular, $9 for seniors ages 65 and older and children under 16; and $5 for Minnesota State Mankato students.

The box office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available online at MSUTheatre.com or over the phone at 507-389-6661.

The Spring Dance Concert is next up in the Department of Theatre and Dance, April 27-29 in the Ted Paul Theatre.
