Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Performing Arts News Release

MANKATO – The season continues next week at Minnesota State University, Mankato Theatre and Dance with the opening of “Men on Boats.” This production is made possible by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the Nadine B. Andreas Endowment.

“Men on Boats” tells the true-ish story of the 1869 exploration of the Colorado River and the Grand Canyon but is told with a cast of all non-male performers. The cast includes 10 performers, many of whom are newer to the department, and they are quickly proving themselves as talented actors. This production also features properties, technical direction and sound design from students in the Department of Performing Arts.

Guest director Joy Dolo from Minneapolis is leading the production and offers the students an opportunity to work with a professional artist outside of the department. Learn more about Dolo at https://www.joydolo.org.

“Men on Boats” runs March 13-16 at 7:30 p.m. and March 16 & 17 at 2 p.m. in the Andreas Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State University, Mankato.  We will also host a preview on Tuesday, March 12 that is free and open to all Minnesota State Mankato students.

Tickets are $17 regular, $15 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $5 for Minnesota State Mankato students.
