MANKATO – The season continues next week at Minnesota State University, Mankato Theatre and Dance with the opening of “The Importance of Being Earnest.”

“The Importance of Being Earnest” runs Nov. 2-4 and Nov. 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 11 & 12 at 2 p.m. in the Ted Paul Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Oscar Wilde’s classic is a delight from the first cucumber sandwich, as two bachelors lead double lives in an effort to escape their mundane existence. Filled with clever one-liners, memorable characters, sharp social commentary and timeless humor, “The Importance of Being Earnest” is must-see. Director Heather Hamilton says of Oscar Wilde, “His work emphasizes the need for sincerity, explores vanity and hypocrisy, and generally pokes fun of inauthentic social behaviors.”

Tickets are $17 regular, $15 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $5 for Minnesota State Mankato students. In an effort to make productions more accessible to Minnesota State Mankato students, the department is inviting all Minnesota State Mankato students to the preview on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

The Box Office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center, or buy single tickets online at MSUTheatre.com. The Box Office line is 507-389-6661.
