Dr. Scott Robert Olson is Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Professor of Speech Communication at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
He has published two books, twenty-eight book chapters, and twenty-one journal articles in publications in the United States, Canada, China, Korea, Poland, Russia, and India. He has delivered over 100 papers at conferences in those seven countries and also Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, and Taiwan.
Olson has secured about $21 million in private donations, $5 million in grants, and $1 million in state and federal appropriations for higher education projects. Among these projects is the Global Media Network, which won a national award from the American Council on Education.
Olson served for three years as Chairperson and CEO of the International Digital Media and Arts Association. He won an Emmy Award and a Cine Golden Eagle award in 2004 as Executive Producer of a documentary film about digital learning shown on public television.
His Ph.D. is from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
