Sorority Recruitment

Page address:

Joining a sorority at MSU is a lifelong support system that is dedicated to philanthropy and community service, scholarship, and leadership. The sorority experience provides career opportunities and networking during college and in the real world. Sororities are not only a place to meet amazing friends and develop a sisterhood, but to enrich the college experience and create a better version of yourself.

Formal Recruitment

Formal Recruitment for this year has been completed.  Not all chapters are currently able to recruit new members.  For more information on who is still recruiting, fill out the form found on the "Contact Us" link to the left.

Sororities at MSU take pride in the annual formal recruitment process that occurs each fall. Formal recruitment is the primary way to join a sorority. It is a four-night process dedicated to finding the best-fit sorority for the potential new member. Online registration will be available in May 2016! Below is a sample schedule of what Fall Formal Recruitment Weekend may look like.

Formal Recruitment Weekend (Fall 2016)

  • Thursday, August 25: Sorority Social (Meet many representatives from each sorority)
  • Friday, August 26: Casual Open House Night (Visit all four sororities.)
  • Saturday, August 27: Business Night (Visit up to three sororities.)
  • Sunday, August 28: Preference Parties and Bid Night (Visit up to two sororities.)

Sororities take great pride in scholastic achievement. Our Sororities each have their own GPA requirements for joining. Typically, this ranges from about a 2.8-3.0 cumulative high school GPA or 2.5-3.0 cumulative college GPA, depending on whether the student is a first year student or a transfer/continuing MSU student. The requirements vary by chapter, with some being higher than others. Chapters very rarely make exceptions to their requirements, as exceptions may require approval from the organization's inter/national headquarters.

Enrollment Status:

Our sororities require each member to be a full time college student (12 credits or more), and a fully matriculated student at MSU.  This excludes PSEO, CIS, etc.

Sorority formal recruitment requires potential new members to pre-register online.  Registration will be available in May 2016.  This allows us to keep potential new members better informed. Potential new members can register up to the first day of formal recruitment Friday August 26, 2016 There is a $20 fee for recruitment ($25 after August 1), which may be paid by credit/debit card online, in person by check, or by sending a check made payable to MSU Panhellenic Council to: PHC Recruitment, 173 Centennial Student Union, Mankato, MN 56001.
