What is Jumpstart?
Jumpstart is a leading nonprofit organization working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Since 1993, we’ve been bringing at-risk preschool children and college students together through one-to-one mentoring relationships to build the language, literacy, and social skills necessary to succeed not just in school, but also in life.
Jumpstart Mankato has been active in the Mankato/North Mankato community since 2000. Jumpstart provides a high-quality, comprehensive program that focuses on the development of the child, the family, and the college student serving as an AmeriCorps member. Jumpstart trains and supports college students willing to volunteer their time (including those awarded Federal Work-Study) to improve the early literacy, language, and social skills of three to five year-old children at local partner preschool centers.
