How To Volunteer

Page address: http://www.mnsu.edu/activities/kitchen/volunteer.html

Interested in Volunteering?

What motivates people to volunteer in Campus Kitchen and other service learning sites throughout our community?  Some volunteer to complete course requirements.  Some volunteer to build resumes.  Some volunteer because it is a GRAND way to feel good about how they are using time.  Some volunteer to give back to the community.  Whatever motivates someone to volunteer, the end result is the same.  Individuals join together to form communities of passion in action!  Consider how you want to spend your time.  If you found this page my guess is you will one day find Campus Kitchen and contribute toward an initiative that gives back in tremendous ways.

Hours in the kitchen during the academic year are:

5:30 p.m.- 7 p.m. Monday:  Packaging

1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Tuesday:  Delivery Ride Along

You can apply and go through a brief orientation in our Community Engagement Resource Room in CSU 171 Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. After this, you will be ready to sign up for days and times that meet your needs.  Slots in the kitchen are filled first come first serve and they are limited.  If you hope to sign up to support our efforts we encourage you to get on board early.

***  If a holiday falls on a Monday, packaging will take place the following Tuesday ***

Large Groups or Learning Communities

Get on board early if you hope to experience kitchen processes!  Student Staff or Coordinating Staff can come and present to your group, have applications and schedules in hand and assist in streamling your process!  If kitchen slots are full staff will be available to dream and scheme about other ways you can learn in support of student leadership development through this or many community-based initiatives throughout Mankato!

Campus Kitchen Simmers through Academic Breaks!

Volunteers are needed to package and deliver meals During academic breaks.  We work from our new home at Crossroads Campus Ministry, 331-Dillon Avenue. Packaging will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on  Mondays and delivery will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays. There is also an opportunity to assist with food recovery and facilities management on Fridays!  Volunteer slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
