Minnesota State University, Mankato is proud to provide the following information about the many scholarship opportunities available at MSU.

These selective academic scholarships are awarded to new incoming first year students. To apply for these scholarships, applicants must show academic achievement in class rank and/or ACT test scores.

To be considered for the Presidential Scholar Awards, MSU Honor & Achievement Scholarships, and Meredith Scholar Award, students must submit a completed scholarship application and two recommendation forms or letters to the following address:

Scholarship Application Deadline:

Scholarship applications must be postmarked by January 15.

Scholarship applications postmarked after that date will be considered as funding allows. Scholarship applicants must also be admitted to Minnesota State University, Mankato to be considered for these scholarships.

By submitting one scholarship application, students are considered for the Presidential Scholar Awards, MSU Honor & Achievement Scholarships, and Meredith Scholar Award.

ROTC Scholarships

The United States Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program (ROTC) at Minnesota State University, Mankato offers scholarships for deserving scholar-athlete-leaders. These scholarships, offered in both the general and nursing categories, provide 100% college tuition and educational fees as well as a designated book allowance. Army ROTC Scholarship winners also receive a tax-free allowance each month for up to 10 months for each year the scholarship is in effect. Upon graduation, these students will be commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army. For information contact:

In-State Tuition Scholarships For Out-of-State Students

In-State Tuition Scholarships will automatically be awarded to academically talented students who reside outside of Minnesota. Residents of MN, ND, SD and WI are not included. Qualified students will be awarded the In-State Tuition Scholarship which allows them to pay resident tuition rates. This scholarship is potentially renewable based on maintaining specific academic standards for up to four years or 128 semester credits, whichever comes first.

High School Seniors who meet one of the following academic requirements will receive the In-State Tuition Scholarship:

  • Rank in the Top 15% of high school class OR
  • ACT Composite Score of 25 OR
  • SAT Total of 1100 (Math and Critical Reading combined – Writing section not considered) OR
  • PSAT Selection Index of 150

Legacy In-State Tuition Scholarship For Out-of-State Students

If one or both of a student’s parents, step-parents or adopted parents graduated from MSU the student is eligible to pay in-state tuition rates during their entire time at MSU. Please complete the application below and submit it with required documentation to the Scholarship Coordinator in the Office of Admissions:
