Application Instructions/Checklist: All the following information and forms must be provided to be considered for admission to Minnesota State University, Mankato:

Application Form: Complete the application form including all required signatures (pg. 1-2 of International Student Application).

Application Fee: Return your $20.00 application fee made payable to Minnesota State University, Mankato through a U.S. bank or with a U.S. Money Order. This fee may also be paid by the use of a credit card (see Number 15 on the application page).

Financial Statement: Complete the Financial Statement Form (pg. 3-4 of International Student Application).

Bank Statements: Along with the financial statement, you must furnish current legal bank statements or scholarship awards verifying the availability of $19,667 U.S. or the equivalent in another currency for a year at MSU. Students should expect an approximate 3-5% cost increase in each subsequent year at MSU.

International Student Agreement: Please read, sign, and return the International Student Agreement (pg.5 of International Student Application).

Advisor Form: Use only if you are currently attending a university/college in the United States. Have the international student advisor from the university/college you are attending in the U. S. fill out the attached International Student Advisor form (pg 6 of International Student Application).

English Proficiency: Provide documentation in one of the following ways: TOEFL with a score of 500 or better on the paper and pencil exam or 173 or better on the computer based exam or 61 or better on the web-based exam; or completion of Level 109 at an English Language School (ELS); or a minimum score of 80 on the Michigan Test of English Proficiency (MELAB); or a score of 5.5 or better on the IELTS. Students transferring from a U.S. college or university may satisfy the English proficiency requirement by the completion of one semester of Freshman English Composition I with a C or better grade. If the student is transferring from a school that is on the quarter system they would have to complete Freshman Composition I & II with a C or better grade.

Personal Statement: Please write a one-page essay in English. Describe your background, interests, purpose for studying at MSU, and how this education will benefit you and your career.

transcripts, test results, diplomas, and certificates: Provide to MSU records of every secondary and post-secondary institution you have attended. Records must be originals, or certified or notarized Photostats and must be translated into English.
