Why I picked Minnesota State Mankato: I liked the environment at Minnesota State Mankato, and it had a lot of majors I was interested in.
A must-have for the residence hall: Television. Make sure you or your roommate bring one. The bigger the better!
To work or not to work: I work on campus in the Admissions office, and I'm also a host at Green Mill Restaurant in Mankato.
Best place to study: One of the corners in the library.
When I'm not studying: You'll probably find me playing mini golf and cooking for my friends.
Best place to eat on campus: The Grill in MavAve (the food court in the student union). Definitely try the French toast sticks!
Favorite campus event so far: Homecoming weekend! There's free food, and we tie-dyed T-shirts.
Favorite places on campus: The Hearth Room in the Student Union and lounge in Ford Hall.
Best part about being a student at Minnesota State Mankato: There are always things for you to do, and the people here are so welcoming and willing to help you achieve your goals. The school spirit is contagious.
How I spend my weekends: I check the paper for events and usually plan a late movie. I like to get together with friends for coffee and lunch during the day. Sometimes we head to the mall to scope out sales on new shoes.
Hardest transition first year: Being on my own and not being able to go home after school to tell my mom how my day was. It was also very different to not have a whole day of classes. Structuring my own study/reading time took some getting used to.
Best advice for getting the most out of college: Don't be afraid to look into events, clubs or even classes that are new to you. You get to choose: either keep everything in your life the same or pick the road less traveled and discover a new passion.
