How your credits transfer to Minnesota State Mankato depends on the institution from which you are arriving. Minnesota State Mankato has detailed transfer policies in place to guide you through any questions about transferring.
Minnesota State Mankato awards academic credit through the International Baccalaureate program; the College Level Examination Program; and the Advance Placement Course Equivalency program; veterans, upon admission, may be granted academic credit for formal military schools attended including passing score of DANTES CLEP/DSST exam. In our post-secondary enrollment option (PSEO), credits are evaluated on an individual basis through the Office of Admissions.

Appeal of Credit Transfer Decisions
Students have the right to appeal credit transfer decisions.
Process for Appealing the Evaluation of Transfer Credits:
- Complete and submit the transfer appeal form. Students may be required to include additional information to support their case including a course description, a course syllabus, and reading list.
- The appropriate department or committee will review the appeal.
- Student will receive the outcome of the appeal in writing.
- A student may submit a MnSCU system-level appeal. A student who is not satisfied with transfer appeal decision may appeal to the Senior Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs. The decision of the Senior Vice Chancellor is binding.
