'67 Elementary Education
Joan Mitchell Davy earned her BS degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in French in 1967. She then went on to teach in the Burnsville School District for six years. She married her husband Mark Davy (’68) and chose to stay home to raise her three children. During that time she served as secretary on a school board and the Edina Youth Softball Association board for three years, the last year as President. She also coached her three children’s softball, basketball, volleyball and baseball teams. She worked part time for a new business started by her husband and then went on to become business manager the next 20 years for Mark’s fundraising consulting business. She is currently working in that capacity and concentrates her efforts in the financial aspect of the company. She has also served on a genealogy board of directors for several years and was recently given an outstanding service award. Minnesota State University Mankato continued to play an important role in the family as two of her children, Maureen (’94) and Michael (’01) as well as her son-in-law Daren Tesch (’95) all received degrees from Minnesota State Mankato. Joan currently enjoys family activities with her three grandchildren, traveling, genealogy, tap and jazz dancing and wintering in Arizona.
