Philip VanWyngarden earned his bachelor of science in Computer Information Sciences and Speech Communications from Minnesota State Mankato in 2007. Upon graduation, Philip joined General Mills as a Project Manager on the Consumer Internet Applications Team, where he was responsible for a portfolio of over 50 consumer-focused websites. While at General Mills, Philip was actively involved in recruiting Mankato graduates to join the company. Philip left General Mills in 2009 to begin a career with the Department of Justice. Philip is constantly applying what he learned at Minnesota State Mankato to protect the security, rights, and interests of the American people. During his time at Mankato, Philip was involved in the Minnesota State Student Association, where he served as a Senator. He was also actively involved in the International Student Association’s Cultural Ambassador program and served as the president of Speech Communications Club and the vice president of the Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society. In his free time, Philip enjoys exercising, woodworking, watching sporting events, and spending time with his wife, who is also a Minnesota State Mankato graduate. Philip currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
