James Anthony Josey graduated from MSU in 2003 with joint master's degrees
in Urban & Regional Studies and Public Administration. Immediately after
graduation, Anthony went to work as a Claims Representative with the Social
Security Administration in Springfield, Ohio. While at MSU, Anthony was a HUD
Fellow in the URSI Department. Anthony also served as the Vice-President for
Administration for the National Black Graduate Student Association and held
numerous other leadership positions within the MSU campus community including
but not limited to: The Pan African Student Organization (founder), the Ethnic
Graduate Student Organization, Student Urban and Regional Studies Institute
club, the Black Student Union Organization, the Martin Luther King Commemorative
Board, and the President's Diversity Committee. In 2003 Anthony received the
student leadership award in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences for
his outreach during his graduate tenure - most notably, his work in assisting
the City of Mankato in becoming the first city in Minnesota to have a city street
named in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., spearheading the effort to bring
Martin Luther King, III to Mankato to commemorate the event and serving as the
Youth Coordinator for the 2002 League of Minnesota Cities Annual Conference.
Anthony, his wife Shenita, and their two children reside in Hilliard, Ohio.
