Adeline Malecha Riha earned a BS degree in Vocational Home Economics Education from Mankato State College in 1970. After working in retail sales at a men's clothing store and tailoring shop for a year, Adeline returned to Mankato State and earned a MS degree in Curriculum & Instruction: Secondary Schools in 1972. While working on her master's, Adeline interned at Wilson Campus School and began teaching Home Economics at Mankato West High School. She remained at Mankato West for her entire 35 year teaching career, retiring in June of 2006. While at Mankato State Adeline served on the Newman Center Council, was an active member and officer of the Home Economics Club and charter member of Delta of Clovia sorority. During her professional career Adeline has actively participated and/or held office in numerous organizations including Mankato Teachers Association, Education Minnesota, National Education Association, Home Economists in Education, American Vocational Association and National Home Economists in Education. In addition, Adeline had been nominated by her students for Who's Who in American Teachers for 4 consecutive years. Since retiring, Adeline volunteers at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital and serves on the Board of the Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital-Mayo Health Systems Auxiliary and is active in Home Economists in Homemaking. Adeline and her husband, Tony, reside in North Mankato and have a son, Ty, who is a lawyer and lives with his wife Emily in St Paul.
