Jay Fennell holds two degrees from Mankato State, both in the field of business education. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1957 and his master’s degree in 1961. He later earned a Ph.D. in business and distributive teacher education at Michigan State University.
Fennell has held a variety of positions in the field of education. He taught business at Springfield, Minnesota high school, and at Michigan State and Ferris State College in Michigan , where he also served as chairman of the administration department. In 1972 he was selected for participation in the American Council on Education Administrative Internship Program. He has also served two college academic deanships and as assistant to a college president. He currently is president of Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, N.Y., a college in the State University of New York System, and serves as an evaluator for college accrediting agencies.
Fennell’s outside interests include tennis, skiing and travel. He also devotes time to several community groups including boards for his local hospital, museum, public television station, area economic development corporation, and private industry council.
Fennell lives in Chazy, N.Y., with his wife, Margene, an academic librarian. The couple has four children, all of whom have graduated from colleges in either Michigan or Wisconsin.
