Allan Sprau, 1963, Chatfield, Minnesota, president of his own company, Metafile Information Systems, Inc., has guided the business to a point where it has become a nationally known purveyor of computer software with annual sales in excess of $7 million. He was named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Minnesota Business Journal in 1985. In 1987, Sprau awarded Mankato State University a grant valued at more than $2.5 million, which included 5,000 copies of Metauile and 25 copies of Metaview software programs. The grant has enabled Mankato State University students, staff and faculty to become familiar with two of the most prominent microcomputer software packages in existence today. In addition, the computer programs have been integrated into management courses, seminars have been conducted on them for special interest groups, and study continues on the possibility of incorporating Metaview into curriculum offerings. Mr. Sprau is also a member of the MSU College of Business Advisory Council.
