Author Gloria Caballero founded Scooter's Place, a non-profit rescue shelter. Her book Phantom introduces the reader to these precious furry friends, and the ministry to the cats requiring care. Bring questions and your lunch and meet the author and her cat Phantom!
Born and raised in Mankato, MN Gloria graduated from Mankato West and earned a degree in Sociology/Social Work/Psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. After a stint as a Correctional Officer for the Bureau of Prisons, Gloria began her career with the United States Marshals Service. Gloria has been able to travel extensively and worldwide through her work, but she particularly enjoys working on the southwestern border of the US.
Gloria is affectionately referred to as the "Cat Whisperer" in part due to her ability to communicate with felines through love and tenderness. Her passion to perform socialization and physical therapy on crippled, abused, and abandoned felines while hoping to find loving homes for them continues to grow as she constantly comes upon more and more felines that fit the pattern of neglect she has, sadly, become accustomed to.
Scooter's Place is the home that Gloria has developed for these precious little animals which has been solely supported by Gloria. However, all proceeds from the sale of Phantom will go toward the work at Scooter's Place. Phantom is the first in a series of fiction books that deal with the realities at Scooter's Place while giving the reader a glimpse into what happens when animals cross the “rainbow bridge” into heaven from the feline’s perspective.
