Starting the fall of 2005, the children of Minnesota State alumni will be offered in-state tuition to attend the University, no matter where they live. The new "legacy" tuition policy, which mimics programs already offered at other institutions across the country, effectively eliminates any financial disincentives for children of alumni who might want to attend MSU. If one or both of a student's parents, step-parents or adopted parents graduated from MSU the student is eligible to pay in-state tuition rates during their entire time at MSU.
