Faculty Profile: Brian Frink
Within the space of his first four years in Minnesota, Brian received fellowships from the McKnight Foundation, the Minnesota State Arts Board, and the National Endowment for the Arts. In subsequent years he has continued to receive support from the State Arts Board (two Fellowships and a Career Opportunity Grant), the McKnight Foundation (an additional Individual Artist Fellowship for 2001) and the Jerome Foundation. Brian’s work is a part of many public collections, including Princeton University; Piper Jaffrey Corporation; and Winona State University, and he has been a visiting artist at colleges and universities across the country.
Brian’s dedication to his studio practice is matched by his energy and charisma in the classroom and his contributions to the department, the university, and the community. The same attitude of enthusiasm and exploration that characterizes his studio practice has kept Brian’s teaching exciting. He has forged a reputation as one of the most dedicated and energetic teachers in the department, and he continues to lead students on yearly trips to New York City. Students and faculty find his positive attitude and genuine excitement for the subject contagious, and he is an inspiration to all.
