Dedication to Nadine B. Andreas

Andreas Endowment
Dedication to Nadine B. Andreas

“The most exciting thing to me is that it’s such a wonderful reflection on Lowell and Nadine, because it’s practical, but yet it’s visionary." "There will be an emphasis on using the endowment in such a way that the public has access to the good it does. That’s why guest artists and lectures will be included, and their appearances will be public. When faculty receive a Nadine B. Andreas grant — which will fund eight weeks of creative or research work — they will 'report back' to the university on what they’ve accomplished in the form of some kind of publicly accessible display."“Lowell and Nadine could have lived anywhere,” Earley said. “But they didn’t. They chose Mankato ... So when we talked bout the gift, we talked about the way the community can be enriched. The importance of the gift cannot be underestimated, nor can the loss of the woman it’s named for. I knew Nadine Andreas well and I really miss her.”

“This tribute is astonishing and will make huge changes to the lives of our students and faculty as these events come to fruition."

Dean Emeritus Jane Earley

The Andreas Endowment has supported many faculty members and students.
Here are a few selections from the many expressing their gratitude.

Gerard Aloisio, Faculty
"The Andreas grant provided the inspiration and resources necessary to transform my classes into technologically advanced, exciting, and far more enjoyable offerings. My students continue to benefit from my Andreas grant. Thank you Andreas family! "

Paul Finocchiaro, Faculty
"This grant allowed me to grow in so many ways. It sparked my interest in research exponentially."

Paul J. Hustoles, Faculty
"The Andreas Endowment has made, and continues to make, an astonishing impact on the creation of our productions. This past spring, I was able to bring back a wonderful professional actor, Jared Oxborough, who happened to also be a graduate of our program, to play the leading role in The Phantom of the Opera. Not only did he inspire our students, but he inspired me to see how our training had allowed him to grow and flourish over the years. It was a thrill to work with him again and to share his artistry with both our students and our audience."

Julie Kerr-Berry, Faculty
"The Andreas Endowment has had a profound effect on my career. Building the Dance Program is focus of my career at MSU as Director of Dance. Andreas Guest artists have greatly enhance the caliber of the program and continue to draw more students to campus as dance majors."

Nadja Kramer, Faculty
"In general, I do appreciate the support that the Andreas family and their Andreas Grants have lent to the Arts and Humanities. For me, the Andreas Grant has helped to lay the foundation for my book-length project on urban planning and fascism – without it, I could not have pursued this project in its current length and depth."

Amy Mattson Lauters, Faculty
"Because of the Andreas grant, I finally had the time and resources to pursue an important research topic that had been on my mind for years. I'm deeply grateful."

Matthew Olson, Student
"The Andreas Endowment has made it possible for me to develop new ways of making large scale photographic images. What I have learned has made me a more effective teacher, and the images created will contribute to the permanent record of Minnesota during the Sesquicentennial year."

Steve Smith, Faculty
"It is very difficult to keep up with the ever changing technology used in the field of lighting design. The Andreas Endowment allowed me to get factory certified in repairing moving lights as well as training in software used for creating three dimensional virtual lighting."

Gregory Taylor, Faculty
"The Andreas Endowment has given me the opportunity to travel to Colombia to further my
research in linguistic politeness in Spanish."

Gina Wenger, Faculty
"Through the Andreas Endowment I was able to take two months and focus my attentions on the photo-documentation of the Japanese American Internment Camps as they stand today. The experience has led to a body of work I am very proud of and I am able to share with the community. It has been a tremendously rewarding opportunity"

Charles Lewis, Faculty
