The ceramics area offers beginning, intermediate and advanced undergraduate courses as well as M. A. (Master of Arts) graduate courses. We embrace both traditional and nontraditional approaches to the clay medium. Our students explore and experiment with materials, processes, and concepts in a self-disciplined yet nurturing and collaborative environment.

The studio is equipped with gas and electric kilns, glazing and plaster working areas, slab roller, spray booth, extruder, a library housing magazines, designated tables for intermediate/advanced students and individual cubicle space for graduate/advanced students.

Our undergraduate and M.A. students after working with us go on to notable MFA programs, residencies and other professional goals in nation and beyond including: Ohio State University, Arizona State University, UMass Dartmouth, Montana State University, Rhode Island School of Design, Archie Bray Foundation, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, Mendocino Art Center, Tainan National University of the Arts in Taiwan, and a professional workshop in Kanazawa, Japan.
