Scholarships

The department has seven scholarships available for students. Students are recommended by the faculty for six of the seven scholarships which recognize outstanding achievement and potential in studio, art education, scholarship and leadership. The Shining Light Scholarship requires submission of an application form.

Effie Conkling Scholarship

Scholarship and leadership; student must have attended MSU for at least one year; junior or senior preferred.

Hapke Endowment Scholarship

"Student must be a declared art major in the junior or senior years with a minimum of a 3.25 grade point average in his/her major with an overall grade average of 2.75 minimum who shows talent and creativity as evidenced by application materials [the Budget Committee considers faculty recommendations to be equivalent to application materials]. Student must be a visual (studio) art major."

Mark Lowe Endowment Scholarship

Recipient should be a declared art major, an undergraduate, and at least a third year student. Recipient should have at least a 3.0 G.P.A. and should demonstrate exceptional potential.

Mary Willard Sugden Memorial Endowment Scholarship

Recipient should have attended Mankato State University for at least one year and maintained a G.P.A. of at least 3.0. Priority will be given to students specializing in art education or painting who excel either academically or creatively.

Rachel Salomonson Memorial Art Scholarship

The fund is established to support an art scholarship. Preference will be given to a female student. The student will be a sophomore in good standing whose passion is painting/drawing.

Lynda Jacobsen Scholarship

Student is preferably an art major in any discipline. No other requirements at this time.

Shining Light Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded to a student who displays a sound, dedicated pursuit in art or design.  Applicants must be enrolled in at least their 3rd year of study as a major in the Department of Art.  A designated review board of Department of Art faculty, will select the recipient. Deadline for submission of applications (TBA).
