Mission

Colleges Against Cancer Colleges Against Cancer is open to all students enrolled at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Mission: Colleges Against Cancer gives students the opportunity to bring the fight against cancer to campus, while receiving support and guidance from a local Society office. With more than 300 chapters nationwide, thousands of college students are making an impact on their campuses and the surrounding communities. The MSU Colleges Against Cancer chapter will focus their efforts on four strategic directions: Advocacy, Cancer Education, Relay For Life, and Survivorship. These areas have become a basis for the structure and activities of our chapters. Cities are becoming smoke-free, legislation protecting cancer patients is being passed, and hundreds of thousands of college students across the country are learning cancer education and prevention information - knowledge that will promote a cancer-free future. Structure: Colleges Against Cancer meets once a week, generally Tuesday nights in CSU 238 at 9:00 PM. The meetings last one hour and cover Introductions, Signing the weekly Care Cards, CAC Updates, Developing New Events & Ideas, Delegating Tasks & Projects, Recapping & Reminders of upcoming events, and most importantly having FUN and FIGHTING CANCER! Financial Procedures: Colleges Against Cancers Financial Procedures are overseen by the President and Club Treasurer. A minor amount funds are initially spent on materials used to fund raise, with ALL of the proceeds going to the local American Cancer Society Relay For Life at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The constitution can be amended at any time by a simple majority vote of members present at any given meeting.
