The Student Philanthropy Challenge seeks to raise awareness of philanthropy on our campus, what it means to be a future alumnus and build support among Minnesota State Mankato's first-year, sophomore, junior and senior students.
You might not realize how you have benefited from alumni and friend gifts. These funds support student scholarships, faculty training and development, department resources, and many other initiatives that enhance your education.

I'm already giving money to the University with my tuition
Tuition covers only a portion of what it costs to run our University, so gifts from private sources are essential. YOU have benefited from gifts made by students who have graduated before you. These alumni and friend gifts have made a difference in the quality of your education and your Minnesota State Mankato experience.
How can my gift of $50, $20.12 or $10 make a difference?
Your gift is combined with many other donations and the collective amount does have an immediate and tremendous impact. Your gift does make a difference! Below are some examples; these amounts can go a long way in enhancing your education:
- If 200 students give $50, it equals $10,000
- If 600 students give $20.12, it equals $12,072
- If 1,000 students give $10, it equals $10,000
What will my money be used for?
You can give your gift to any area on campus. You can also make a gift in honor of your parents or a favorite professor or coach.
