Blue Earth Review accepts submissions of poetry, prose, and artwork. With all submissions, please included pertinent contact information (including a current e-mail address), a brief bio, and a SASE with adequate postage.
Sample copies are available for $5. Please send a query letter and a check to the address below.
Submit up to five poems for our consideration.
We read both fiction and nonfiction submissions under 8,000 words long. We are especially interested in shorter fiction—for its ease of publication—and sponsor an annual flash fiction contest every fall.
Payment is two complimentary copies of the issue in which author’s work appears. Blue Earth Review does not consider work that has been previously published elsewhere. Simultaneous and multiple submissions are acceptable. If your work is accepted at another magazine (congratulations!), please drop us a line so we take it out of consideration. There is no reading fee for submissions.
Please address all submissions to the appropriate genre editor. Unspecified submissions have a greater chance of being misplaced and thus never read. Please ensure that your name, address, and email appear on both the cover letter and manuscript.
Please note that Blue Earth Review does NOT return manuscripts, even if the enclosed SASE contains more than adequate postage. Please keep a copy of your manuscript for your own records.
Important notes for accepted submissions found here.
NOTE: Due to the increased chance of misplacing e-submissions, all e-submissions MUST BE FORMATTED ACCORDING TO BER POLICY. Any e-submissions that are not formatted correctly will be deleted unread, and the sender not contacted. We are thrilled to accept e-submissions, but must ask in return that you respect our guidelines.
1. Please send your e-submission to blueearthreview@gmail.com as a single e-mail with the subject line "[poetry/prose] submission for BER." Address your e-mail to the appropriate editor. In the body of the e-mail, please include a brief statement, brief bio, current address, and current e-mail address. PLEASE INCLUDE THE E-MAIL ADDRESS BELOW YOUR MAILING ADDRESS, EVEN IF YOU ARE E-MAILING THE SUBMISSION FROM THE SAME ADDRESS.
Send your work(s) as SEPARATE ATTACHMENTS. For example, if you are sending three poems, please attach each separately to your e-mail. Again, if we receive a single attachment with three poems, we will delete your e-submission unread.
Please title your attachment "[GENRE] [your last name] - [title of work]."
