Crossover Cable

Option 4)

Create a small Ethernet network.

Get an Ethernet hub/router - connect Ethernet cables from both Macs to Ethernet hub/router.

a. Go to System Preferences on new Mac and go to Sharing - start personal file sharing

b. Go to old Mac Control Panels; Open AppleTalk; select connect via Ethernet from popup menu;

Open TCP/IP control panel; connect via Ethernet (popup menu is selected); close the TCP/IP window and select save. Go to Chooser from Apple menu; select Apple Share - your new iMac should show up. Copy files to new Mac

Ethernet hubs are nice if you have other Ethernet devices (laser printers, etc.)

Option 5)

Buy a USB jumpdrive and copy files from old Mac that has USB on to it, then insert into new Mac and copy files to new Mac.
