Otto Arena, center of physical education and athletic competition, was constructed in 1962. The Arena is named in honor of Robert "Bob" Otto, former athletic director and football coach at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Since the completion of Bresnan Arena, in the fall of 2000, Otto Arena now serves as a facility for many Campus Recreation activities. MSU Men's and Women's Basketball and Men's Wrestling were once played in this gym. These activities are now held in Bresnan Arena. MSU had many commencement ceremonies in this arena as well.
