You are about to enter the financial aid response process. This is a multistep process that begins with the Financial Aid Response Form. If you will not be accepting any loans or work-study, this will be the only form you will need to complete.

If you are choosing to borrow from the Federal Stafford Loan Program, you must complete the Loan Acceptance Form during the same session as you complete Financial Aid Response form. If you do not complete both forms at the same time, you will be required to complete the Financial Aid Response Form again. If you will be accepting work-study or a Perkins Loan there will be additional links in your online Financial Aid Award letter to follow and complete. The Financial Aid Response Form is necessary for all students to complete. For the Financial Aid Response Form you will need:

Your Tech Id (It is on the top of your award letter.)
To decide what types of aid you are going to accept or decline (please only accept or decline those types of aid that were listed on your award letter.)
To list any sources of funding that were not listed on your Financial Aid Award Letter, e.g. scholarships, Veterans's educational benefits, employee tuition waivers, graduate assistant tuition stipends, community advisor stipends, DRS, etc. If you find about an additional source of funding after you have completed your response form, please inform the Campus Hub.

If you were awarded and will be accepting a Federal Stafford Loan, there are additional steps to complete. After you have completed the Financial Aid Response Form, you will need to continue on to the Federal Stafford Loan Lender List. This list contains the list of Federal Stafford Loan lenders that Minnesota State Mankato recommends. This list is meant to help students that do not have a preexisting relationship with a bank or a general preference. You may choose ANY lender you desire, provided the lender participates in the Federal Stafford Loan program. Once you have chosen a lender by clicking on the "Select this lender" link next to your desired lender, or the select the lender link next to the "Other Lender" choice, in the case you are choosing a lender not on the list, you will be taken to the Loan Acceptance Form.

To complete the Loan Acceptance Form you will need the following information:

Your Tech Id
Your anticipated enrollment for the fall and spring semesters
Your grade classification
Your anticipated graduation date
The information regarding the lender you have chosen if not using a recommended lender. Your desired lender can easily give you that information.
The amount of each loan you would like accept

If you are choosing to borrow a Federal Stafford Loan, and you have never borrowed from the Federal Stafford Loan Program, you will also need to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN). In addition if you have never completed Stafford Entrance Loan Counseling at MSU, you must complete the counseling prior to MSU processing your loan request. The online process will guide you through the Stafford Counseling and the MPN Process. If you are unable to complete MPN and counseling you may complete those two sections at a later date by going to the Campus Hub's website and clicking on the "Loans" link.
