Step 1 - Complete 2012-2013 FAFSA

Complete a 2012-2013 FAFSA application at fafsa.gov, if you have not already done so for fall and/or spring semester(s).

The 2013 Summer Term at Minnesota State Mankato is considered the end of the 2012-2013 Financial Aid award year.  Therefore, the 2012-2013 FAFSA will be used to determine eligibility of Summer aid and must be received by June 30, 2013.

If you submitted the FAFSA for 2012-2013 for another school and you are transferring to Minnesota State Mankato to pursue a degree here, please add the Minnesota State, Mankato school code, 002360, to your FAFSA at fafsa.gov.

Step 2 - Register

Register for ALL summer classes at mnsu.edu/eservices by logging in with your Tech ID and Tech ID Password.

Enrollment Requirements

For financial aid purposes, the Summer Term is considered to be the equivalent of one academic semester.  For less than full-time enrollment, aid will be prorated.  Your eligibility is determined based on the number of credits for which you are enrolled.  Changes to your enrollment status may reduce or cancel your financial aid.

Enrollment/Credit Requirements

Full Time 3/4 Time 1/2 Time Minimum
Undergraduate 12* 9-11 6-8 6†
Graduate 6‡ - - 6‡

*  To be eligible for a full-time Minnesota State Grant, you must be enrolled for 15 credits.

However, students who are enrolled for 3-14 credits may still have eligibility.

† Eligibility for the Federal Pell and Minnesota State Grant may be possible for less than 6 credits.

‡ Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 graduate level credit hours to qualify for federal student loans.

Step 3 - Summer Financial Aid Application

Apply for summer financial aid by clicking on the link below and completing a Summer Financial Aid Application.

Once this application and your 2012-2013 FAFSA

are processed, you will be emailed a Summer Financial Aid Award. Applications will be processed in the order they are received. All summer applications MUST be submitted by June 30, 2013.

Step 4 - Budget Adjustment and/or Enrolling at Another Institution

If requesting a Budget Adjustment for Summer Term, you must schedule an appointment with an Advisor and submit the Budget Adjustment Request along with all necessary documentation as soon as possible.  Failure to submit the documentation and meet with an Advisor in a timely manner may prevent extra funds from being available.  To make an appointment, contact the Campus Hub at (507) 389-1866 or stop by 117 Centennial Student Union.
