Todd PfingstenTodd Pfingsten, Director of Campus Recreation


This is Todd's seventeenth year at MSU as the Director of Campus Recreation, overseeing staff, facilities, programs and services in intramural sports, open recreation, fitness activities, sport clubs, and adventure education. Prior to his current position he spent six years as the Assistant Director for Intramural Sports at the University of Nebraska and 3 1/2 years as the acting Director of Intramural-Recreational Sports (now Campus Recreation) at Minnesota State University Mankato. He received a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Business Finance in 1989 and a master's degree in Physical Education/Sport Administration in 1993, all from MSU. In his spare time, Todd enjoys spending time with his wife and three children along with playing golf, officiating basketball, and coaching his kids.

Ryan StevensRyan Stevens, Program Coordinator


This is Ryan's sixteenth year at MSU as a Program Coordinator for the Office of Campus Recreation. Ryan coordinates the Intramural Sports and Sport Club programs as well as helps in the administration of Personnel and Open Recreation. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1998 and his master's degree in Health Promotion from Virginia Tech in 1999. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys golf, softball, tennis, and playing/officiating basketball, in addition to spending time with his family and friends.



Carly HopperCarly Hopper, Program Coordinator


Carly Hopper has been involved in fitness and wellness for more than 20 years. She is the Program Coordinator of Fitness, Wellness, and Special Programs at Minnesota State University, Mankato and has been in this position since October 2012.  She has her master’s degree in community health (her thesis was about Hatha Yoga), is a Certified Health Education Specialist, and an adjunct instructor at both Minnesota State Mankato and South Central College, where she teaches courses in the Health and Human Performance departments. Carly is certified as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor who has previously presented for the National Exercise Trainers Association. She is a senior yoga teacher and one of the teacher training faculty at Sun Moon Yoga in Mankato, Minn., and is recognized as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (200 E-RYT). When she is not teaching yoga, running or planning fitness activities, Carly encourages her two children in their own pursuits. She and her family live in North Mankato, Minn.



Sam SteigerSam Steiger, Program Coordinator


This is Sam's sixth year at MSU, and his second year as a Program Coordinator for the Office of Campus Recreation.  Sam coordinates the Adventure Education Program (AEP), which provides teambuilding and leadership development for the university and surrounding community.  The AEP operates the High Ropes and Challenge Course located on the south side of campus as well as the outdoor climbing wall and the indoor climbing wall in Myers Field House.  Sam received his bachelor's degree from the University Wisconsin- Stevens Point in 2001 and his master's degree in Experiential Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2006.  In his spare time he enjoys photography, travel,  the outdoors, time with his dog 'Ryno' and is an avid Chicago Cubs fan.



Ben NelsonBen Nelson, Program Coordinator


This is Ben's second year as a Program Coordinator for the Office of Campus Recreation, overseeing marketing and facility scheduling for the office. Prior to his current position Ben spent five years as an Athletic Equipment Manager and Adjunct Faculty for the Department of Human Performance at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Ben received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Sport Management from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2008 and 2012. In his free time Ben enjoys attending Maverick sporting events, Mankato MoonDogs baseball games, and spending time outdoors.



Seth HoscheitSeth Hoscheit, Graduate Assistant


Seth is in his seventh year here at MSU- Mankato, and is in his second year as the graduate assistant with Campus Rec/Intramural sports. Seth finished his undergraduate bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a major in Community Health Education and a minor in Sociology. He is pursuing a master's of arts in the Sport Management program, and will be graduating in the spring. Seth hires and trains officials for our intramural sports and works with the Intramural Supervisors on a day to day basis. Seth graduated from Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm, MN (2009) where he played football, basketball and baseball. In his spare time Seth loves to spend time with family and friends, he also enjoys almost anything to do with sports and being active. Seth is also an official for the Minnesota State High School League officiating basketball, baseball, football and softball.
