Mankato Bull Run Obstacle Race

The Annual Mankato Bull Run is a first of its kind obstacle race for the Minnesota State University campus and surrounding community. The race is designed to challenge runners' strength, endurance balance and coordination on a scenic 5K trail run.

Annual Triathlon

The annual spring Triathlon involves swimming 300 yards in the Highland Center pool, biking 14 miles, and running 5K on a paved country road south of town.  The event is open to Minnesota State University students, faculty and staff, and community members.  First timers and experiences triathletes are welcome!  Registration is limited to 80 participants.  Teams are welcome.  Cost is $25 for individuals and $60 for teams.  You must provide your own bicycle and helmet.  Registration is typically open from the end of March to the middle of April.

Annual Treadmill-a-Thon vs. St. Cloud State University

The annual Treadmill-A-Thon competition between Minnesota State University and St. Cloud State started in 2010.  Campus Recreation Departments face off to see who can recruit students/faculty/staff to run the most miles within a four hour time period.  The winner takes home the traveling trophy.  The event is free and takes place in Otto Recreation.  In 2013, Minnesota State University students/faculty/staff accumulated 30.59 miles in the four hour time period.

Annual Duathlon

The annual Indoor Duathlon event started in 2008 and typically is held on Super Bowl Sunday morning.  The event is open to Minnesota State University students/faculty/staff and community members.  All fitness levels are encouraged to participate.  The goal is to accumulate as many miles as you can on a treadmill (20 minutes), bicycle (20 minutes), and treadmill (20 minutes).  In the past the event had a $15 registration fee.  Participants receive a duathlon souvenir.

Whipper Snapper Spring Climbing Competition

The first inagural Spring Whipper Snapper competition will be held April 28th, 2013 in the Myers Field House. Competition is set for all climbing abilities and all ages! Come experience the Spring Whipper Snapper, the best thing since sliced bread!



Kato Krusher

Kato Krusher Fall Climbing Competition

The Kato Krusher is the type of work that get's you ready for winter. This annual fall competition on MNSU's indoor climbing wall, attracts climbers from all over the midwest to compete in multiple divisions and multiple ability levels. All abilities and all levels of climbers are represented. Climbers who prevail know they will make it through a hard MN winter.
