The Fitness and Wellness program offers individuals the opportunity for personal fitness through both Group Fitness program classes and use of the fitness equipment in Otto Recreation Center. Group Fitness classes include: total body conditioning, circuit training, step, yoga, and more. The fitness center offers both cardiovascular and weight training opportunities which include: treadmills, elliptical machines, stair machines, exercise bikes, variable resistance weight equipment, free weights, and more.

Maverick Boot Camp 2013

Started March 18th and runs 6 weeks!

Boot Camp is a 6 or 8 week program designed to jump start your fitness! Teams of four compete in weekly challenges. Teams meet with a personal trainer twice weekly and earn points for challenges. The team with the greatest percentage of total accumulated points wins free registration for the next Boot Camp session offered - a $200 to $250 value! Registration forms and Invoices are available in Otto or in HC 1410.

Membership to Otto Recreation Center for Faculty/Staff/Spouse/Alumni is required to participate.

  • Typically we offer one eight week session of Boot Camp fall semester and two six week sessions of Boot Camp spring semester.
    • 8 Week sessions cost:  $250 total per team
    • 6 Week session cost:  $200 total per team

  • April 6, 2013 NETA Group Exercise Certification - Potential and current fitness instructors will learn basic academic and practical application of teaching group exercise.  No college, science or teaching background required.  Workshop registration includes a full-day review, written exam, and 2-year certification.  Early bird registration discount is $249 if you register 30 days prior to workshop.  Credits: 6 NETA
  • April 7, 2013 NETA H.I.I.T (High Intensity Interval Training) CEC Workshop - H.I.I.T. exercises are very popular in the industry right now.  Learn how to properly apply H.I.I.T. techniques to both your classes and your clients.  Some topics include energy systems, EPOC, and appropriate application of methodology.  Credits: 5 NETA, .5 ACE, 3 AFAA, .5 NASM
