The Fitness and Wellness program offers individuals the opportunity to strive for personal fitness and wellness by offering a variety of activities and services for students to participate in, such as group fitness classes, fitness assessments, personal training, small group personal training (SGPT), customized exercise plans, MAVBOOTCAMP, special events, fitness certifications and continuing education credits opportunities, and the use of fitness equipment in Otto Recreation Center.

Group Fitness Class Schedule

Group Fitness classes include, but are not limited to: Barre Blast, Crunch Time, HIIT, TBC: Total Body Conditioning, TBS: Total Body Strength, Yoga, Yoga 4 Strength and Zumba!

Classes are free for all current MSU students.

Faculty, staff, alumni, donors, emeriti (retired faculty/staff), spouses of the afore mentioned and spouses of students may purchase a Group Fitness Classes ONLY Membership for $25 per semester; this includes only group fitness classes in the semester you purchase the membership.  Pay Online

Or you may purchase a Otto Rec Center Membership, which includes the pool and group fitness classes for $100 per semester or $200 annually.  Pay Online or print off an Invoice.  Emeriti have special rates; contact Carly for details.

Personal Training

If you need a motivator or do not know where to start with exercising, then hiring a personal trainer is perfect for you! Consider it an investment in your health! A personal trainer will work with your personal goals to develop a program that meets your needs! 

Fitness Certifications and Continuing Education Opportunities

Campus Recreation hosts fitness certifications and continuing education workshops to provide individuals an opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge, and increase their potential job opportunities.

Fitness Assessments

Components of a Fitness Assessment include testing body composition, cardio respiratory fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility.  A summary of your results will provide you with baseline information needed to start an exercise program.  A fitness assessment is required before beginning any personal training program.


  • Gather a team of four
  • Participate in 8 weeks of group personal training
  • Complete pre and post fitness assessments
  • Compete against other teams for points
  • Cost: $250 total per team ($62.50 per person)

Looking for an exercise partner? Look no further! This service will match you up with an exercise partner based on your characteristics. All information is confidential and will only be used to match partners
