Students
Learn more about an occupation - Develop your networking skills – Plan your professional development. The Mentor Network through mavjobs.com and the Career Development Center connects students to professionals willing to serve as mentors.
Employers and Minnesota State Mankato alumni register with mavjobs.com to serve as a volunteer mentor to you. The duration and the extent of the relationship you have with your mentor is determined by you and your mentor.
The Mentor Network is a good way to get answers to questions like:
- How did you decide on your major or career?
- What do you like about your current job?
- What are the biggest challenges in your current job?
- How did you find out about your current job?
- What are qualities that a successful worker needs to have in your field?
- What advice do you have for someone who is thinking about working in your field?
- What are some of the trends in your industry?
- What does your organization do?
- What is the hiring process for your organization?
To explore the Mentor Network, login to mavjobs.com and make sure your account is up to date. Select the Mentor Network menu tab to review available mentors. Search for or select a mentor from the list and get contact information by clicking on the “interested” button. Participation in the Mentor Network is governed by the Mentor Network User Terms and Conditions.
If you have any questions about the Mentor Network, please contact Matt Carlson, matt.carlson@mnsu.edu or 507-389-6061.
Mentors
As an employer or graduate of Minnesota State Mankato you can serve as a mentor to students through the Mentor Network provided by mavjobs.com. Mentors serve as a resource to current students and new graduates who are exploring career and job opportunities.
If you would like to talk to students and recent graduates about your career, please register as an employer with mavjobs.com and be sure to select Mentor Network. Mentors choose the number of times they wish to be contacted by mentees per month, and the method by which they would like to be contacted (phone, e-mail, or mail). As a Mentor, you can also choose to assist with panels, workshops, seminars or lectures on career areas through the Career Development Center, classes, and student groups.
