Academic Service-Learning (ASL) is a teaching method utilizing community service to help students learn course material.
Consistent with its mission to support and strengthen high quality and innovative teaching, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is currently assisting faculty using ASL through:
- Workshops and Seminars—Offering training to both faculty and community partners
- Networking—Those new to service-learning can connect with experienced faculty and community partners interested in ASL
- A Resource Center—Both our website and our blog feature items on topics ranging from writing a service-learning assignment to ASL research and grant opportunities
