Other Conferences

Page address: http://www.mnsu.edu/cetl/conferences/other.html

There are many other conferences around the country concerning "Teaching and Learning" topics. The most famous is the Oxford Lilly Conference in November at Miami of Ohio University in Oxford, Ohio. There are other Lilly Conferences on the east and west coasts. For those interested in attending workshops that discuss teaching issues this site suggests some of the more interesting to attend.

Lilly Conferences:

The 26th Annual Lilly Conference on College Teaching will take place November 16-19, 2006 at Miami University. Over 50 featured teacher-scholars will discuss teaching and learning topics ranging from using technology to cooperative learning. There will also be over 50 contributed papers. Opportunities to meet and talk to the presenters are provided at topical breakfast, luncheon, and dinner tables, receptions, and breaks.

In past years, many deans and chief academic officers have supported the attendance of a team of their faculty at this conference, as reward and recognition for an outstanding teacher, as encouragement for a junior faculty member, or as an opportunity for the team to bring new teaching and learning ideas back to campus. Institutions planning Teaching and Learning Centers have found the Lilly Conference an excellent place to meet and "scout" some outstanding teacher-scholars.

There are also other Lilly Conferences around the country that are not as large as the Oxford event. For more information contact the CETL office or go to their website Lilly Conference .
