Greetings from CETL!
What a busy week for our office. We are in the midst of peer faculty consultations across campus. Our peer faculty consultants are working with faculty by observing a class and discussing the class with students. At the end of this work, the peer faculty consultant discusses findings with the faculty member who asks for this aid. So far we have been thrilled by the response and what both faculty and consultants are learning about teaching and learning. Students have been pleased also, knowing that someone cares enough to ask them what they think of their class before it is too late to make any changes.
We are also excited about our collaboration with the Office of Instructional Technologies. Together we were able to sponsor our first ever "Talking About Teaching and Technology Conference" on campus. There were a total of 70 in attendance. We hope to continue this conference each year in an attempt to keep up with the many changes and challenges new technology has created for faculty at the university. Scroll down to view photos of the conference.
We continue our series of new faculty workshops. Next week we will discuss the famous "article 22" and how to prepare for tenure, promotion and simply developing a quality four year plan.
Finally, we encourage all faculty to consider joining one of two book groups that will be sponsored by CETL next semester. Participants receive a free book and have a chance to meet with other professors in a collaborative environment every other week for one hour. See the CETL website for more information about this unique offering.

Our very own, Dr. Ron Nickerson (above) discusses the use of Powerpoint in the classroom.

Dr. Judith Kuster (above) explains to participants how she has used technology as a professor during her career at MSU.
