Greetings from CETL!
We are now at the half-way point of the school year. It has been a busy semester for CETL and next semester looks even more exciting. We will be continuing the new faculty lunches and workshops every other week from noon to 1 p.m. in the IFO Conference Room. Note we will end 30 minutes early than last semester. Clearly, it is difficult for new faculty to get away for more than an hour so we can eat while the workshop is going on.
The big news for spring semester are the FOUR Faculty Learning Communities that will take place. Three of them will read the book, "Creating Significant Learning Experiences" while the four reads "Classroom Assessment Techniques." The 46 faculty involved in these groups will all receive the book free of charge. We are looking forward to interesting reading and even more stimulating discussion.
We will continue our highly rate Peer Faculty Consultation program. We were able to aid 14 faculty last semester. If you think this might be helpful please contact us as soon as possible. CETL continues to work on new initiatives for our faculty and will be submitting a grant soon for a special Faculty Learning Community for a two year period starting next year. More on that later.
Finally, we want to remind all faculty that there are great opportunities for funding of teaching and learning along with conferences and workshops to attend. Please check out this website to find many opportunities for those interested in improving their teaching and student learning. That is what we are all about. Happy Holidays!
