Greetings from CETL!
We are nearing the mid-term time for the spring semester. Faculty are busy teaching AND learning. Our Certificate I program participants have just finished up sessions on Integrated Course Design and the Certificate II folks will now begin working to redesign or design a new course using these valuable ideas. Our peer faculty consultation program is in full swing with the goal to complete all observations by the 10th week of classes. Mentors and mentees continue to meet over lunch or coffee or some other time as we continue to build community at the university. Our department chairs groups continue to meet regularly and our planning the agenda for the chairs meeting with vice-president Olson later next month. They are also helping to create a chairs orientation program that will take place at the end of the school year and again just before the fall semester begins. We also have our first-ever online faculty development group working with Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs).
By the end of the semester we will have nearly 70 graduates of the Certificate I groups and nearly 20 of the Certificate II groups. If any faculty are interested in a peer faculty consultation or a one-on-one course development session please contact us. Thanks to our dedicated faculty. It is our pleasure to work with such a talented and caring group of people.
Sincerely,
Stewart Ross
