DEPARTMENT OF SPEECH COMMUNICATION

 

Minutes – March 3, 2004

 

 

Present:  Dan Cronn-Mills, Jim Dimock, Lou Eckert, Dave Engen, Martine Harvey,

               Nan Johnson-Curiskis, Brian Klosa, John Rollins, Kristen Treinen, Leah White 

               Absent:  Sheryl Dowlin (Phased Retirement/Spring, 2004)

               Graduate Student:  Nicole Schultz

 

The faculty of the Department of Speech Communication met at 12 Noon on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, in MH 215.

 

Request for Department Subcommittee on Service Learning:  Dave shared that he is very interested in forming a subcommittee of faculty interested in making their courses more connected to service learning and the community.  If you are interested in being involved with this Subcommittee, please see Dave.  As of today, the following faculty have volunteered to be on the Subcommittee:  Dave, Kristen, Jim.

 

Review Department Attendance Policy:  The faculty discussed the current attendance policy and agreed to make no changes.

 

Update and Review on Faculty Search Process:   Dan informed the faculty that Dean Earley has made an offer to Kathryn Cady.  Ms. Cady has until March 15^th to respond to the offer.  If Ms. Cady declines the offer, the department will re-review the application files.  If  no suitable candidate is found, the search will be considered a “failed” search and the search process will begin again.

 

The meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
