DEPARTMENT OF SPEECH COMMUNICATION

 

Minutes – September 8, 2004

 

Present:  Christa Brown, Kate Cady, Dan Cronn-Mills, Jim Dimock, Lou Eckert,                         Dave Engen, Martine Harvey, Nan Johnson-Curiskis, Brian Klosa,

               Kristen Treinen, Leah White

               Absent:  Sheryl Dowlin (Attending Grant Institute, Boise, ID)

              GAC Representative:  Kara Sand

 

The faculty of the Department of  Speech Communication met on Wednesday, September 8, 2004, 12 Noon in MH 215.

 

NCA Membership to Undergraduate or Graduate Student:   Dan will send an e-mail to TAs to inquire who will be attending NCA, but not presenting.

 

Data Privacy:  University Data Privacy policies were reviewed with faculty.  Dan will contact Student Affairs to see what information can be given out pertaining to the University’s Forensics Team.  Also, Dan will check with Lori Lamb, HR Director, regarding mandatory reporting.

 

Equipment Requests:  Send equipment items to Dan.

 

Position Description – Dowlin Replacement:  Dan reviewed the department’s Staffing Plan that addresses the Dowlin position.  After discussion, Dan will develop the language for the Dowlin position and will send via e-mail to the faculty.

 

MAGS Submissions:  No submissions from Speech Communication.

 

Good News: 

 

Nan Johnson-Curiskis:  Name added to On-line Readiness document.

Jim Dimock:  Kessel Peace Institute / Upcoming talk scheduled for September 15th.

Dave Engen:  American Democracy Project:  Voter Registration / Contact Dave for

                        scheduling someone from the Project to visit classes.

Kristen Treinen & Christa Brown/Advisors, Lambda Pi Eta and Speech Club:  Flyers

                        will be distributed to faculty to announce in their classes.

Leah White:  Forensics CD/Leah, with the help from Dan, is compiling a CD of the

                        Forensics students that competed at Nationals.

 

The meeting adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
