The Department of Speech Communication met on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at 12 Noon in MH 215.
Director of Graduate Studies: 2007-2008: Warren Sandmann

Qualifying Exam: Two graduate students will be taking the Qualifying Exam under the Old Policy November 20-27, 2006. All remaining graduate students who have not taken the Qualifying Exam will take the Exam under the New Policy. Date for Spring, 2007:
March 24, 2007, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Search Committes for Upcoming Faculty Searches: Faculty agreed to formulate two search committees for the upcoming searches. Please contact Dan via e-mail which search committee you would like to be assigned to.
Capstone Project Presentations – Alternate Methods of Presenting at Colloquiums:
The department is experiencing conflicts from graduate students not being able to attend colloquiums to present their final projects. Should the department make available an alternate method of presenting at department colloquiums? Faculty should think about this and it will be discussed at a future faculty meeting.

GAC: Lynn Kuechle, GAC Representative, reminded faculty to notify her of any upcoming faculty committee meetings.
Library Liaison: Please submit your book, video or journal library requests to Christa Brown as soon as possible. Christa will send a reminder to all faculty.
Colloquium: Next department colloquium is scheduled for October 25th.
CSCA Basic Course: The faculty agreed to make a $100 to the CSCA Basic Course Top Paper Fund. Kristi Treinen will coordinate with Kathy the completion of the paperwork.
Relay for Life: April 14-15, 2007, MSU Myers Field House
Speech 102 / Spring 2007: Two TAs will need to teach two sections of SPEE 102 for Spring, 2007. Kristi Treinen will put out the request to TAs to apply. Christa Brown, Jim Dimock and Dave Engen will review the applications.
Proposal for Leadership Team: Kristen Cvancara will send out a reminder.
Lambda Pi Eta/Speech Club Student Get Together: The event was very successful.
