The Speech
Communication faculty conducted an e-vote on December 12-14, 2006 and unanimously
approved the graduate certificate program described below.
The Graduate Faculty met 12/12/06 to discuss the proposed graduate
certificate.
Following discussion, the graduate faculty recommend
the following proposal:
Graduate Certificate in Professional Communication – 12 credits
Core: All students will take 6 credits of required courses:
SPEE 601 Communication Research Methods (3)
SPEE 633 Communication for Professionals (3)
Students will then choose 6 additional credits from the following:
SPEE 512 Organizational Communication (3)
SPEE 515 Topics in Rhetoric and Culture (3)
SPEE 545 Conflict Management (3)
SPEE 604 Communication Training and Development (3)
The Speech Communication Department agreed the six courses in the
certificate program would be available online, with each course available at
least one time in a two-year cycle. The regular course rotation for graduate
courses offered face-to-face will continue.
