††††††††††† Larry reported that 260 people had pre-registered for the convention.† CTAM is in good financial condition with approximately $20,000 in the account (bills for the convention and the journal are not included in this total). Expenses are increasing for the journal ($4500).† Audio/visual costs will also be high for the conference (approx. $900).† Good student participation under the CTAM grant.† Larry will describe the convention costs at the Sat. morning business meeting so the membership has a better sense of what the actual costs are of such a convention.
Presidentís Report:† Dan reported that Concordia is the 2006 Recipient of Rex Mix Award for Small College Program of Excellence.† Congratulations were extended.
Two appointments were made:
1. NCA/CSCA SAC Representative: Two people expressed interest:
b. Todd Holm, Concordia C.
Discussion followed and a motion was made to appoint Diana Rehling as the NCA/CSCA SAC Rep. Motion seconded and passed.†
2. Journal Editor.† Two people have been nominated as Journal Editor:
b. Dr. Aileen Buslig, Concordia C.
Discussion followed. Motion was made to appoint Aileen Buslig and Angie Anderson was nominated as an Associate Editor.† Motion was seconded and passed.† It was noted that printing of the journal will stay at MNSU-Mankato as these established procedures facilitate the printing of the journal and it is hoped that CTAM can continue this relationship.
President Electís Report:
Historianís Report:† Cindy is working on the historianís article for the next journal.† The archives moved into a new office and the archives now reside in a smaller corner.
Newsletterís Report:† Sarah reported that everything went smoothly with the newsletter and things are in place to continue successfully.
this is a difficult process and there is a struggle to find the best
location when following the practice of switching back and forth from Metro
area to outstate MN.† One idea raised was
to go with the location that provides the best bid.† Discussion followed. As yet, there is no site
for next yearís conference but there are several locations interested
Journal expenses:† consider moving the journal to an on-line format to save printing costs. DSR does this already and uses two formats (html and pdf) successfully.† On-line format may increase the audience.† In 2005, 350 copies were printed for $3727.† In 2006, 425 copies were made and the cost increased to $4003.† Dan will bring this discussion to the BOG meeting.† Reminder to be sure to print a hard copy for the CTAM archives.†
Karen mentioned that at the Theater/Dance licensure meeting it was communicated that there is still a possibility to split Speech out of the Communication Arts Literature licensure and make it itís own license. Dan will bring this up at the BOG.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
Karen P. Wilson, Secretary
