Begin Lab #1

Part 1

If you haven’t done so, you might want to practice using the stopwatch. If you are ready to begin, make sure you write down your answers on a sheet of paper—you will need them at the end. Fill out the form and send it in to receive credit for this lab.

Measure how long it takes a normally fluent speaker to produce a sentence. Use this stopwatch-it uses msec (1000 msec = 1 sec). Click on the speakers to hear each of five sentences. ((Listen to them as many times as you like. Be sure to count the number of words in each sentence). When you click on the icon, a small window will appear--select "open file" (if you are using your own computer you may select "save to disk').  When you select "open file", a sound player window will appear. Drag it near the stopwatch so you can more easily time the sentence duration. Time all 5 sentences and write the answers down an a sheet of paper.
