Hi Shana, AAF can be used for as long as the person feels that it is benefitting them. Some people claim that there is carry over from the fluency that AAF provides to their normal speaking when they are not wearing the device. So in that case the person could reduce the tiem that they use AAF over time as they start to become more fluent without the device. But there are soe people who claim that there is no carry over effect of fluency while not using AAF. It just depends on the person. In my own ersonal experience if I use AAF to specifically help me use speech techniques that I can later use while not wearing the device I do find some carry over effects. I would just suggest playing around and see what effects the AAF has on their speech and then see if there is any carry over effects. Thanks, Rick
