Hi Rebecca, Thank you for kind remarks. Expanding my comfort zones has assisted me greatly in dealing with my life-long stuttering problem. I wrote a much longer paper for the 2003 ISAD Online Conference, entitled: STEP OUTSIDE: Why expanding our comfort zones can improve our stuttering and lead to more fulfilling lives'. You may access it by clicking on the following link: http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/isad6/papers/badmington6.html At the time, many fluent SLPs and SLP students wrote to tell me that they intended to use it in their OWN lives to achieve personal growth. You posed the question, "...what made you decide to reach outside your comfort zone and face your fears". I should explain that, in 2000, I acquired new techniques and tools that gave me the ability (and confidence) to deal with speech blocks and 'feared words'. They provided the springboard for change. I wish you every success with your studies. I have addressed several classes of SLP students at US universities during recent years. It is always such an enjoyable (and mutually beneficial) experience. Kindest regards Alan
