Hi Alan! Thank you for another inspiring article. As an SLP, I love having your personal stories to give to my students. As you said earlier, I find them personally encourging also. What do you suggest a person do to cope while experiencing being outside his/her comfort zone? In addition to nurturing positive thoughts, there are the physical reactions to manage: rapid shallow breathing, weak knees, light headedness, intenstinal upset...I wish I had a "to do list" to cope with these physical reactions. I am reading a fun book now called "Lighten Up: Survival Skills for People Under Pressure" by CW Metcalf and Roma Felible (1992) that describes ways to take life a little less stressfully. Maybe having one's computer not working should be included! :)
