Hi Jessica, Thank you for your kind remarks. I truly believe that failing to expand our comfort zones, and adopting avoidance strategies, seriously restrict the lives of so many people -not just those who stutter. I undertake an extensive programme of talks to community organisations (in the UK) in an attempt to increase greater public awareness about stuttering. At the conclusion of my 60 minutes presentation, I conduct a question and answer session, during which many members of the audience confide that they can relate to (in their own lives) much of what I have discussed. You may find it helpful to read the following papers that I have written for past International Stuttering Awareness Day Online Conferences: (1) 'STEP OUTSIDE: Why expanding comfort zones can improve our stuttering and lead to more fulfilling lives' http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/isad6/papers/badmington6.html (2)'Changing the Words Around', a poem that explains the implications of avoidance. http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/isad7/papers/badmington7/badmington17.html I wish you every success with your studies. Your presence on this forum clearly indicates your desire to succeed. Kindest regards Alan
